FAQ

Why Tallow?

Tallow has been used for centuries as a cure-all of sorts. Basically, it’s the fat that is rendered from cows. We use a specific beef fat called suet, which is the fat surrounding the kidneys of the cow and it has far superior therapeutic properties. You can use it for cooking, baking, or skin care, and it’s 100% natural. Commercial skin care products are full of harmful chemicals that can, and do, disrupt your normal bodily functions. Tallow is very similar to the lipids that are found in young, healthy skin. 100% grass fed/grass finished tallow is chalk full of vitamins, B12, CLA, Omega 7, Omega 3, Omega 6, Omega 9, and is believed to have incredible anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial properties.

What’s In Your Tallow Balm?

Suet Tallow: We source our tallow from an Amish farm that raises 100% grass-fed, grass-finished cows, increasing its therapeutic properties. The farm practices regenerative farming, just the way nature intended and is always FREE of harmful ingredients. There is never any: GMO’s, synthetic pesticides or herbicides, antibiotics, hormones, irradiation, chemicals, sludge, or unidentifiable ingredients. The farm goes well beyond organic farming practices, to include being a zero-waste facility, feeding natural only diets, and using homeopathic and herbal remedies.

Essential Oil: We use 100% pure Essential Oil from a responsible company who uses internal analysis as well as independent third party GC/MS testing to ensure quality control, and no chemicals or synthetic ingredients.

Other Oil: We use a very small amount of organic Olive Oil to soften the tallow and make it easier to spread. It has emollient properties that soothes skin irritation and is suitable for all skin types, with no silicones, parabens, artificial or synthetic ingredients ever.

Emu Oil: We source our Emu Oil from a family run farm where the emus are raised humanely, fed a custom blended diet of organic grains, and given plenty of room to roam and run. The oil is so pure (100% pure) that it is certified as food grade and AEA Certified. Emu oil has been used for thousands of years by Australian aborigines for its many health benefits. The belief is that it is naturally anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, hypoallergenic and highly moisturizing. That means it’s an excellent choice for all skin conditions like acne, premature aging, wrinkles, burns, and scars. It’s very close to the natural oils that are in our own skin. Emu oil contains oleic acids, omega-3, omega-6, and cancer-protective CLA which easily penetrate the skin barriers and support heart health. It may provide relief for a variety of problems including: eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, rosacea, rashes, arthritis, stiff joints, muscle aches, bursitis, tendonitis, sciatica, tennis elbow, shin splints, dry, cracked skin, fine lines and facial wrinkles, hair loss and thinning, pain and itchiness following new tattoos, stretch marks, scars, cuts, and even burns.

When Will My Order Ship?

Please allow 3 business days for orders to be processed and shipped. Shipping prices are calculated during checkout, and are based off of shipping weight and location.

My Tallow Melted During Shipment. Is It ruined?

Nope! This tallow is shipped whipped, however during warmer weather it can melt during shipment. If it has melted, simply pop it in the fridge until it hardens again, and then you can leave it on the counter after that. Or, you can store it in the fridge for cooling skin relief. The warmth of your hands will easily re-soften the tallow balm.

Do I Need To Refrigerate My Tallow Balm?

No, you don't have to. However, if you would like to, cold tallow balm feels amazing on burns, blisters, and sun burns!

What Is The Shelf Life Of Your Tallow Balm?

6 months to 1 year. We recommend that you store your tallow in a cool, dry, dark place. Over time, tallow may naturally harden, however the warmth of your hands will soften it up easily.

Doesn't Tallow Smell?

Quality, pure, grass fed, unscented tallow does have a very mild beef smell to it. If it didn’t, it wouldn’t be pure. That’s why we use essential oils. In addition to their medicinal properties, it helps masks the natural scent of tallow. No worries though, once the tallow is absorbed, there will not be any lingering odor except for the essential oil. Most people only notice the scent of the essential oils.

How Do I Use Tallow Balm?

A little bit goes a long way! It can replace all of your face and body lotions and can be applied anywhere on the body, externally. The best time to use tallow balm, just like any moisturizer, is right after you get out of the bath or shower and still have damp skin. This allows for more of the moisturizer to penetrate your skin. If your skin feels too oily afterwards, you have used too much. No worries though, olive oil will not clog your pores.

Can I Use Tallow Balm If I Am Pregnant or Nursing?

Yes, our tallow balm is safe during pregnancy and while nursing. However, always check with your medical provider if you have any questions.

Is Your Tallow Balm Safe For Children?

Yes, our tallow balm is safe for any age.
